McLean Apple Crisp

Our family’s version of the apple crisp from the old Evans Farm Inn restaurant in McLean, Virginia.

8 medium apples — cored and sliced
2 cups organic sugar
1 cup organic, all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
butter

Preheat over to 350° F. Grease the baking dish.  Add sliced fruit. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Take half of the mixture and stir in with the fruit.  Take the other half, add the egg, and mix until moist. Sprinkle the remaining mixture over the fruit.  Add butter pats.

Bake 350° F until brown and bubbly.
